I went to visit Kaye last weekend in San Francisco. It was really great to see her again.
We ended taking a scenic drive down to Monterrey Bay and back on Saturday, and then visiting her friend Eric on Treasure Island on Sunday. We were originally going to help him build his boat, but it was too rainy so we ended watching Cosmos. OMG sciencey goodness. On Monday Kaye had to work so I ended up wandering around Golden Gate Park for a while, and then exploring the city. In the park someone offered to sell me some "chronic". It somehow reminded me of home.
The Bay Area is much more beautiful than I expected. Well, except for the outskirts of SF itself which was a sea of ugly pastel boxes. I had expected the whole area to be a little more built up and urban, but I hadn't realized just how big the bay is. Billions and Billions of m3.
I've always thought that I might end up moving down to Silicon Valley. Now that I've visited and seen that it is somewhere that I'd like to live, I'm going to include it in my job search. And it's nice to know that I have a friend down there. If I do end up finding something nearby we can probably split the couple rate at the "expensive health club" :p
Actually it probably wouldn't be worthwhile joining unless I lived or got a job right by it. Which reminds me, I should apply for a job working in the big database canisters. They probably do some interesting stuff there.
